Maybe someone will make an easier to follow kernel config, or it will custom make itself to the hardware that you have running :-). I would say Microsoft have provided us with a very good set of goals to strive for. Great progress has been made, but the ease of use is still an issue. This is simply a question of time and perserverance. Study chapter 5 in the SuSE book!
