Happy New Year to all, Well Ben, I've been following this thread but no SuSE Employee ever said Yast1 was going away. IMHO this thread resumes some opinions on SuSE and is worth a little bandwith. As a newbie of SuSE ( one year using it ) let me just give some impressions on Yast1: Yast1 is very good. But it's like an old car with a ferrari engine inside. So I can understand SuSE for changing the look of Yast1 and adding some things like for example a downloading status GI when updating from suse ftp, etc.. So if SuSE could dress a ferrari Yast1 engine with a ferrari car and call it NewYast1, I think that everybody will use SuSE. thanks for the bandwith and time. filip. Could someone who has been paying attention to this thread tell me which SuSE Employee said Yast1 was going away or where this has been published. This is news to me and seems to be more then speculation for discussion and a waste of valuable bandwidth and time.

This is bad news =>indeed. => =>I find it hard to swallow that SuSE would be willing to drop their one true =>ICON in the Linux administrators book of Good tools. I would never rely on =>a GUI based package for setting up and administering a system, things can =>be complex enough as it is. Guess I had better grab all the source for =>YaST1 and start turning it inside out.
