Yes, but since osX is really based on NeXTstep... using a mach
kernel... there's no
reason why it wouldn't be as strong or stronger than Linux.
I'd like to add that the NeXT kernel it's self is based on BSD.
And BSD is generally considered just a little bit better at serving

that's wrong - NeXT is not _based_ on BSD - it's based on mach
microkernel - BSD was "only" an addition to the mach-kernel (as a
layer) to let BSD programs work and to have a bigger collection of
_useable_ software. - older version of NeXT didn't have BSD-layer!
