OK, I've gotten syslogd under control w/ -m 0, but just for the sake of anyone else w/ a beeping box, it was not just syslogd but also the idled daemon, so apparently I was getting beeped at every 20 min. and every 2 min. (thought it seemed quicker than 20 min.) Anyway, it has been turned off through Yast ->Configuration file->start idled->no way! Thanks again. On Sat, 12 Aug 2000, Avi Schwartz wrote:
Oh, no, you have it running all right since this is the program that generates the --MARK-- messages and is used by all other programs that emit data to the system log. If you do 'ps xa' from the command line you will see it running.
