Hello
I am trying to install SuSE 6.4 on a 486 PC/33 with 20MB (RAM) and 2 HDs: 210 MB and 1.08 GB (Seagate soft to jump the 540 MB limitation). It has a CD (Creative 1220 E) attached to a Sound Blaster Card 16. I run the boot disk and then the modules disk . I
I had no trouble installing 5.2 from a sound Blaster CD-ROM.
Another solution would be to copy the needed files (A, N
packages) to an existing FAT partition and install from
there. Then once the basic system is in place set up a
network to access the CD-ROM on another machine. I used
this method to put linux on a 386-33 with 2 meg of RAM and a
80 meg HD. Unfortunately I couldn't get a SuSE distro to
fit and had to use Slack 2.0.
