I think that education is the most important investment. That's the main reason why I chose Linux over M$ and am using it exclusively at home - though I have no choice at work. Mostly I prefer free software packages and am interested in learning more about programming. It seems that M$ isn't interested in educating the public about that sort of thing but are instead geared toward the marketing aspect. A lot of it seems unethical to me, especially after trying Linux and discovering just exactly what a great os and free software can do. With M$, you would pay good money just to do the ordinary things that one would take for granted should be included with the operating system (and would be) with Linux.
