Sorry for my bad english. I have tried to say something else. I have made a TCP server application but it's in a working state , and so right now I have some open connection on my server port. Can I close these 'dead' connection without restarting the computer ? Thanks , Crosby. -------------------------------- On Thu, 13 Apr 2000, you wrote:

Exist a program to close all connection for a given port number ? It's possible to make this think ?
Yes, this is possible. The programs you want is ipchains ('man ipchains' or 'less /usr/doc/howto/<your-language>/IPCHAINS-HOWTO.gz').
For example, if you wanted to block all connections to and from your port 23, you might issue the following commands: ipchains -I input 1 -p tcp -d $LOCALIP 23 -j REJECT ipchains -I output 1 -p tcp -s $LOCALIP 23 -j REJECT ipchains -I input 1 -p udp -d $LOCALIP 23 -j REJECT ipchains -I output 1 -p udp -s $LOCALIP 23 -j REJECT where $LOCALIP is the IP address of the computer you're blocking.
If you need more help, just ask, Chris -- Apologies to everyone who has been waiting for replies off me over the past few weeks - I've been away from my computer. I'll try to catch up with my email over the coming days, but don't be surprised if you get a reply in a month's time... __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
