In my .xinitrc I have the following test -r $HOME/.Xmodmap && xmodmap $HOME/.Xmodmap So it appears that it is calling the file- I don't understand why it doesn't remap the buttons... OK... Edited Xmodmap- it looks like this:
keycode 64 = Meta_L keycode 0x6d = Multi_key pointer = 3 2 1 4 5
I restarted and the buttons were still in the default configuration. From a command line I typed xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1 4 5" and the buttons remapped to a left handed config. Is this the correct format? Anybody have any ideas why this didn't work?
Check if ~/.xinitrc contains if [ -f ~/.Xmodmap ]; then xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap fi Some window manager install scripts replace .xinitrc. Maybe that's what happend to yours.
