I have SuSE 6.3 and I finally got the wheel mouse working - left handed. The mouse config panel greys out the button reversal control under the wheel mouse configuration. While searching the support database I found the following command for switching around the buttons which I modified with a 4 & 5 to account for the addition of the wheel. xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1 4 5" My question is where is the best place to call this command for KDE to startup with these settings? Or is there a better way to move the buttons around? As it stands now everytime I startup the machine I have to issue the command. Just put `pointer = 3 2 1 4 5' in ~/.Xmodmap. That file is automatically loaded from .xinitrc whenever you start X. OK... Edited Xmodmap- it looks like this: keycode 64 = Meta_L keycode 0x6d = Multi_key pointer = 3 2 1 4 5 I restarted and the buttons were still in the default configuration. From a command line I typed xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1 4 5" and the buttons remapped to a left handed config. Is this the correct format? Anybody have any ideas why this didn't work? Check if ~/.xinitrc contains if [ -f ~/.Xmodmap ]; then xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap fi Some window manager install scripts replace .xinitrc. Maybe that's what happend to yours. In my .xinitrc I have the following test -r $HOME/.Xmodmap && xmodmap $HOME/.Xmodmap So it appears that it is calling the file- I don't understand why it doesn't remap the buttons... Hm, no idea. It works for me. You can also put a xmodmap -e "pointer = ..." into ~/.xinitrc and see if that works.
