Hi there,
I know this is off topic but since there are a lot of very knowledgeable folks on this site I thought "what the heck". Anyway, here goes. I was working on my brand new PC when suddenly without warning it went dead. The green "Power On" light didn't go out but the screen just went black. A reset will cause just a littel bit of hardddrive activity; the orange light that indicates harddrive activity will briefly flicker a little bit. The power button doesn't function anymore either when I try to turn it off. The only thing left to do was to turn off the power on the main switch on the back. I opened op the box and fiddled a little with the connections but to no avail. And when I turn it on it doesn't even reach the phase where I can enter the CMOS settings - the screen just shows those digits it's supposed to show when juice kicks in and then it dies. There's no harddrice activity whatsoever (I think it's almost certain it's not the harddrive that's at fault since it doesn't even reach the memory check). I'm at loss here! Can anyone help me out? My PC is configured like this:
motherboard: Epox EP-7KXA with VIA KX133 chipset cpu: AMD Athlon 650MHz RAM: Dimm 256MB 133MHz harddrive: Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 13,6GB (7.200rpm) CD-ROM: AOpen 48x video: Matrox Millennium G400, 32MB sound: Soundblaster 128 ethernet: 3Com 3C905
