Rajko,
The other types of templates, could be example images with explanation how to annotate details, videos with instructions how to take and edit them.
All that has to be integrated in "Article writing guidelines", or "Demo video guides", and so on.
Yeah, the article templates are the ones I was thinking about in context of the Guidelines. Thanks for making this clear.
But ... we should also encourage the editors to use the wiki templates within created articles like e.g. "tested with openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, 11.2".
There is template http://en.opensuse.org/Template:TestedOn I has more deficiencies then good sides: - it doesn't reveal much about prerequisites to succeed besides to have installed certain released version, which is not much. - it is visually too noisy. If necessary to hang on badges on articles they have to be much smaller, must have certain position that doesn't interfere with article flow, and that is the same for all articles. There is http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Infobox_Software that may require rework to include more information. If we have to have tested with then we have to make similar template.
Furthermore, if we decide to use the FlaggedRevs Approach proposed by cboltz as our QA Process, the editor may place a wiki template "under construction/WIP" on top of the new article until a very first revision has been approved by the wiki staff.
"Under Construction" is probably the most laughed out term on the web. See http://www.cs.utah.edu/~gk/atwork/ We have this http://en.opensuse.org/Template:Cleanup-in-progress but it is meant as temporary badge while someone is really working on the page, to prevent midair collisions. It should not be forgotten as I did with http://en.opensuse.org/ATI :( Actually it should not be used if editors have instructions how to rescue their version when midair collision happens.
Thus also the usage of wiki templates should be explained within the Guidelines where appropriate.
Yes it should :-) (Just, as mentioned somewhere, to find how to squeeze more hours in a day)
Still on the same page?
On templates it is easy to be on same page.
Best, Rupert
