I've ran into a bit of an issue. I'd already posted on how my Wallstreet II wouldn't go to sleep properly, and when forced to slep by closing the lid, the backlight wouldn't work. Well, now, if I leave it running, plugged in, when I try to use it, the Backlight will stay off. I have to reboot to get it to work. It works fine in OS 9.2.2, but not in openSuSE v10.2. It worked fine in v10.0.........Sleep also worked in v10.0.
Can you try the 2.6.20 kernel? ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ppc/HEAD/kernel-default.ppc.rpm
Dont forget to copy /boot/vmlinux and /boot/initrd to your HFS boot partition.
I have a Pismo that I just recently upgraded to 10.2 and had similar diffculties with the sleep. If it was running on battery and the lid was closed it seemed to freeze and the only thing I could do to handle would be to reboot. Installing the 2.6.20 kernel was a breeze: just rpm -ivh kernel-default.ppc.rpm and then rerun lilo to set up the booting. Rebooted and voila! Sleep seems to work fine now on a preliminary test.
