[opensuse-ppc] Backlight on Wallstreet II not working after sleep
I've ran into a bit of an issue. I'd already posted on how my Wallstreet II wouldn't go to sleep properly, and when forced to slep by closing the lid, the backlight wouldn't work. Well, now, if I leave it running, plugged in, when I try to use it, the Backlight will stay off. I have to reboot to get it to work. It works fine in OS 9.2.2, but not in openSuSE v10.2. It worked fine in v10.0.........Sleep also worked in v10.0. Thoughts? Thanx. ________________________________________________________________________ Check Out the new free AIM(R) Mail -- 2 GB of storage and industry-leading spam and email virus protection. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

Can you try the 2.6.20 kernel? ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ppc/HEAD/kernel-default.ppc.rpm Dont forget to copy /boot/vmlinux and /boot/initrd to your HFS boot partition. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

I have a Pismo that I just recently upgraded to 10.2 and had similar diffculties with the sleep. If it was running on battery and the lid was closed it seemed to freeze and the only thing I could do to handle would be to reboot. Installing the 2.6.20 kernel was a breeze: just rpm -ivh kernel-default.ppc.rpm and then rerun lilo to set up the booting. Rebooted and voila! Sleep seems to work fine now on a preliminary test. Good to hear. I will try it in a few minutes. I want to try to see if it will sleep with the updated kernel. I wonder how it will affect kernel updates with YOU. I had some issues with YOU and Flashplayer 9 on my machines. On 1 machine, it re-added v7.x and it took me a while to fix it. Still a pain to have to rebuild madwifi with every kernel update....... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

Nope. Suspend still won't work when selected from the desktop, and closing the lid and opening it back up after about 30 seconds brought it back up with no backlight. Also, since i didn't have the sources for that kernel, I couldn't build madwifi, so I removed it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

You could check in ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ppc/HEAD/ and find the corresponding kernel sources. -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ on openSUSE Linux --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

True, but since the newer kernel didn't fix it, there really wasn't a point. Oh well. ________________________________________________________________________ Check Out the new free AIM(R) Mail -- 2 GB of storage and industry-leading spam and email virus protection. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

Too bad. Please open a kernel bug at https://bugzilla.novell.com/ to track this bug. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org
