While that isn't actually true (or only true from the limited view of STABLE), the package was checked in nonetheless before the error was corrected by the packager.
I find it highly confusing to often not get a mail about a reject, but only sometimes, and even if you get a mail, you see the package checked in afterwards anyway.
A bit more consistency would be nice to have.
Agreed, but what I object to is gaining this consistency by means of build failures.
