[opensuse-packaging] deprecated %run_ldconfig
Hello, obviously some autobuild team member is currently in a mood to reject the checkin of packages which contain %run_ldconfig calls. Can we please make this a build failure instead of a warning before this policy is enforced? I'm not sure if this is the mood of a member or a consense in the team, but I would disagree with enforcing something _after_ we made it a build failure. If something is deprecated, it should be fixed if the package is submitted. That does not mean, we should let every old package fail for using something deprecated. Let me clarify: can this be made a build failure with mbuild? Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Or extend check_if_valid_source_dir. It's an annoyance (additional to that packages that build in the build service fine may not build in abuild) to have packages rejected that build fine and pass check_if_valid_source_dir. this is not a mood. it has been documented since months. it has been announced afaik. so instead of crying just fix your packages. darix http://en.opensuse.org/SUSE_Package_Conventions/RPM_Macros#3.28._.25run_ldco... -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

If it's not then I would expect some consistency in the applied rules but ob- viously other packages like libzypp or sax2 get checked in with %run_ldconfig.

An announcement that (random) packages will be rejected starting this week?
so instead of crying just fix your packages.
And you have no opinion about adapting the scripts? Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

There is a difference if the package has %run_ldconfig since ages or if the package _was actively changed_ to the deprecated macro. While that isn't actually true (or only true from the limited view of STABLE), the package was checked in nonetheless before the error was corrected by the packager. I find it highly confusing to often not get a mail about a reject, but only sometimes, and even if you get a mail, you see the package checked in afterwards anyway. A bit more consistency would be nice to have. Agreed, but what I object to is gaining this consistency by means of build failures. I don't think this was the point. the point was to provide scripts to be able to verify if a package would be rejected before it actually is. For the same reason that you cannot verify if all your subpackages are in production state, exist in PDB, etc, etc. Greetings, Dirk -- RPMLINT information under http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org
