Another question: Is there a possibility to configure xcin with kde or do I have to do it manually?
If you start X11 with LC_CTYPE=zh_TW.Big5 or LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.GB2312
xcin will start automatically and XMODIFIERS will be set correctly.
This is done by the script ~/.xim which is sourced from ~/.xinitrc.
See also:
http://www.suse.de/~mfabian/suse-cjk/automatic-xim-server-start.html
If you start your X11 session with LC_CTYPE set to something
non-Chinese, xcin will not start automatically by default.
But you can change that easily if you want, it is explained here:
http://www.suse.de/~mfabian/suse-cjk/xim-server-startup-custom.html
i.e. if you want xcin to start always, even for values of LC_CTYPE
not starting with zh_TW or zh_CN, you can edit the end of ~/.xim
to look like this:
[...]
*) # all other languages
# You may want to start an XIM server, even if you don't start
# your X11-session in a language which usually needs an input server.
# For example, some people may start their X11 session in English, because
# they mostly use English, but nevertheless want to have a Chinese
# input server running, because they also write Chinese texts.
export XMODIFIERS="@im=xcin-zh_TW"
LANG=zh_TW LC_ALL=zh_TW xcin &
