I have enabled Leap 15.0 builds in the devel repo KDE:KDE3 last week, kdelibs3 does not build and therefore most of the other packages do not build.
Due to long-time unfixed build failures in tumbleweed, KDE3 is being removed from TW and will not be added to Leap 15 proper. Don't panic, you can still use KDE3 if you add the buildservice project KDE:KDE3 directly. This IOW means the Leap 15 version will exist if it builds.
The KDE3 codebase is old and showing its age, from a quick look the build failure is in some SSL related code that needs to be refreshed. And there's more, see the Monitor tab on the project page.
I'm am moving from KDE3 to LXQt but will remain among the OBS project maintainers so if there are people fixing the failures I will review and accept the submit requests. In recent months I tried to fix random build failures, but this did not work. There were suggestions to take fixes from TDE, or use TDE itself. That's a hint for anybody who's willing to spend time on keeping KDE3 in openSUSE in a good shape.
Thank you, We were panicking. I would like to see it continue fully supported, but if not, then I'm more than happy to use a buildservice -- that will kind of screw over the Yast install process, but I guess it can be worked around. We should be able to pull the TDE patches for kdelibs build issues. We also have the ssl patch for TDE that went by on this list about 6 months ago. I'll look at the errors and see if I can figure them out. When I was building TDE for Arch, Arch was moving between gcc 4.x to 6, and there were not too many issues related directly to gcc. Thanks for all your hard work, it is much appreciated. We should really push to keep KDE3 official in 15 and in TW, if possible. -- David C.
