I think I just figured out what is happening started when I upgraded from 13.1 to 42.1 early last year. When I would switch out of my normal user session to vtty2 or 3 to perform some admin function as root, on switch back I would find my Chatzilla (IRC) session had been disconnected and in process of automatically reconnecting. Now on a 42.2 test box I am writing a video using avidemux, while on remote login to that box I am running top. On that box I see avidemux in the KDE3 session using ~198% CPU, until I switch it to vtty2. Then avidemux falls entirely out of top, and total CPU falls to nil. On return to the KDE3 session I can see the avidemux progress unchanged on first screen draw, after which it begins moving. Any other KDE3 users able to notice this apparent sleeping of the session? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
