[opensuse-kde3] session goes to sleep on switch to vtty[1-6]
I think I just figured out what is happening started when I upgraded from 13.1 to 42.1 early last year. When I would switch out of my normal user session to vtty2 or 3 to perform some admin function as root, on switch back I would find my Chatzilla (IRC) session had been disconnected and in process of automatically reconnecting. Now on a 42.2 test box I am writing a video using avidemux, while on remote login to that box I am running top. On that box I see avidemux in the KDE3 session using ~198% CPU, until I switch it to vtty2. Then avidemux falls entirely out of top, and total CPU falls to nil. On return to the KDE3 session I can see the avidemux progress unchanged on first screen draw, after which it begins moving. Any other KDE3 users able to notice this apparent sleeping of the session? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I haven't switched to a tty long enough to put my desktop to sleep before coming back, however, that sounds like what you are experiencing. It should just wake up normally and provide you with the unlock dialog and your session should not have 'suspended'? Is there anything in the journal that would indicate that a suspend was attempted? KDE shouldn't care what tty you are on, unless you have configured suspend on a timeout within KDE. Anything you can add there? -- David C.
