The version I have on my machine at home is the one with KDE4. Plasma freezing/crashing, etc put me off KF5/Plasma5 and I jumped ship from my old distro to OpenSUSE (with KDE4). Plus the missing system tray and klipper (plasmoid?) security issue, was another frustration (I can live with that though). If the crashing/freezing has been resolved in Leap then I will give that a go on my work machine and migrate. I am currently using LxQT and would like to go back to KDE. -e On 11/12/15 08:44, Wolfgang Bauer wrote:

problems have been resolved. Besides, I don't feel like switching back to the other distro. What version of the OpenSUSE distro is the fixed Plasma5?
Leap currently has 5.4.2 (5.4.3 will be submitted as an update).
And just to be clear here: What openSUSE version did you actually install?
If it's 13.1 or 13.2, you won't be switched to Plasma 5 automatically as long as you stay with that distribution version. 13.2 does come with an earlier version of Plasma 5 (5.3.2), but you'd have to actively switch to it. Or you can install the latest one from additional repos.
But the default in 13.2 and 13.1 is KDE4, and that won't change.
OTOH, as mentioned, Leap 42.1 and Tumbleweed use Plasma 5 by default, and it is not (easily) possible to go back to KDE4.
Kind Regards, Wolfgang
