Feature changed by: Kim Banga (nomadewolf) Feature #311284, revision 3 Title: Use .DEB as packaging system openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Mandatory Requested by: Kim Banga (nomadewolf) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: There are many things i don't like in SuSE, but what drove me away was the RPM packaging system. It works very well... until you start removing stuff... Can't use an OS with such a flaw, when there an easy solution. Discussion: #1: Jimmy Berry (boombatower) (2011-02-13 00:46:24) Yep, zypper rm package. Files gone. I'm sure this is part of some larger rpm vs deb flame war, but rather unspecific. + #2: Kim Banga (nomadewolf) (2011-02-13 17:05:09) (reply to #1) + No flame war. I had to move away from SuSE as it becomes unusable after + a while. If i just install stuff it works fine. But i wan't to remove + the stuff i don't need. And anyone who does that in SuSE ends up + discovering what i did... I like SuSE, and it was my distro for many + years. But i got sick of having to re-install it every 6 months... I + moved o Linux Mint, and i can install/uninstall everything i want how + many times i want, and never had a single problem with that. rpm is not + as good as deb, and that's a fact. You can call it flame wars. But + that's just an excuse not to improve... If rpm was better, i would + support rpm. But it isn't. + Since i stopped using rpm based distros, my problems with linux ended. + Maybe i'll make a SuSE based using .DEB myself, and then people can + choose and judge themselves. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/311284
