Hi everyone, I was expecting to find some new environment variables after the upgrade (and reboot) to the current Tumbleweed snapshot with Freetype 2.7. But I'm not seeing any difference in fonts, and I also don't see any of the environments variables activated that are mentioned here:
- https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2016-10/msg00303.html - https://sourceforge.net/projects/freetype/files/freetype2/2.7/ - https://sourceforge.net/projects/freetype/files/freetype2/2.6.4/
I understood the Tumbleweed release announcement to mean that the new subpixel rendering mode would be activated by default, but I'm not sure if I have to explicitly set those variables, which ones, and where to set them?
The new SUBPIXEL HINTING is enabled in freetype - but there is no need for a ENV Variable to be set for everybody: the library has its internal defaults (that are different to what 2.6 used). The variable FREETYPE_PROPERTIES *CAN* be set by a user to influence how the rendering works - you have to set it yourself if you want to change from the defaults. Cheers, Dominique
