I have six 42.1 installations with the shipped 4.1.* on Skylake (6700K). Even though they came preloaded from a disk image copy by the hoster, and use the "nomodeset" boot option, the thing runs afterwards. Which means you just need to use text mode installation plus nomodeset and then install a 4.2+ later on.
