Re bko#275469: The issue with windows not disappearing from the taskbar has been identified as a Qt bug and resolved. If you're feeling really impatient create a SR or file a bug asking for the patches to be backported to KDE:Qt or something.
Odd... something is different between KDE4.8 from Factory and KDE4.8 from Upstream. When I installed from Upstream, it was really unusable. Last night I pulled it from the Factory repo to try again. So no new user, nothing different from the attempt 4 days earlier, just pulling from the Factory build this time... and everything works OK After install, I logged out and back in. Nepomuk pegged the CPU at 100% for a short time (only 2 or 3 minutes max), and everything works OK now with the Task Manager and Panel. Whatever was broken from the previous install (Upstream) seems to have sorted itself out on last night's install (from Factory). Still testing, but all looks very good, and KDE4.8 is noticeably different/better than 4.7/4.6. So all is good.
