[10-19-11 00:20]: I have the Live CD version of the latest pre-release version of openSUSE 12.1. Everything seems to work, except I can't get KNetworkManager to work with the WiFi (Realtek rtl8192ce module). I can get it to create a wlan0, if I use the traditional "ifup" method. However, when I try to use KNetworkMangager, I can't even enable WiFi. When I click on "Enable", it quickly disables it again.
Not to hijack the thread but problems may be related...
I have the same on an Acer 5520 but atheros AR5BXB63 w/ath5k driver and NM doesn't provide the opportunity to select wireless (grayed out). "ifup wlan0" does get a wireless address but only inet6. No problem connedting wired.

Note that wlan0 does get an inet6 address but not inet4 ????
You are not associated - look at iwconfig. The inet6 address is generated from the hardware address and does not imply communication with a DHCP server. Is the radio blocked? That is the usual cause for the wireless option being grayed out in NetworkManager. Check that with '/usr/sbin/rfkill list'. You will probably have to install rfkill first.
