Hi! The login sound for the Gnome desktop that is enabled at "Startup Applications" [gnome-control-centre] executes this command:-
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="GNOME Login"
However there is no file with this id, and executing this command on the terminal simply gives
Failed to play sound: File or data not found
The correct command, that plays a login sound correctly, should be
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="login" --description="GNOME Login"
If the intention is to disable the login sound for Gnome [which is quite alright I think], this should be done by disabling this auto-startup command instead of having a wrong id for canberra-gtk-play.
It's just this way because the theme we ship (which is the upstream freedesktop.org sound theme) has no login sound. We do not wish to disable the login sound (unless the login sound is horrible for some reason, which was the reason the old one was removed upstream -- it was way too long).
