Bug 604193 reports a firmware problem with the RT2870 devices. This bug

What steps are needed to get updated firmware from the Ralink site to
replace the firmware currently included with 11.3?

Hm, have you looked at the linux-firmware package? It should have the
correct version. If not, please let me know and I'll go update it if it
needs it.

Although vlj did not have his machine available to check the logs for
the definitive "your firmware is too old" message in the posting at
http://forums.opensuse.org/get-help-here/pre-release-beta/439269-ralink-rt2870-built-driver-doesnt-work-11-3-ms7.html#post2168922,
it seems clear that it was necessary to overwrite the distributed
firmware to get the device to work.

I do not have the device, thus I cannot verify this independently;
however, I think the firmware in the package should be updated.

Thanks,

Larry
