[opensuse-factory] Milestone7 delayed
Hi, The ISOs are already on the mirrors, but a last minute change supposed to be harmless caused both live cds and DVDs to create an unbootable system: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=607480 As such we need to recreate the ISOs and reupload them to the mirrors once they are done. This means I can't publish it today ;( I already synced the factory snapshot, so if you're updating with zypper dup you will get Milestone7 and network install is not affected. For DVD there is an easy work around, but live cds I need to regnerate in any case. Bug 604193 reports a firmware problem with the RT2870 devices. This bug affects 11.3 MX and 11.2 since kernel 2.6.31-5. What steps are needed to get updated firmware from the Ralink site to replace the firmware currently included with 11.3? Hm, have you looked at the linux-firmware package? It should have the correct version. If not, please let me know and I'll go update it if it needs it. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Although vlj did not have his machine available to check the logs for the definitive "your firmware is too old" message in the posting at http://forums.opensuse.org/get-help-here/pre-release-beta/439269-ralink-rt28..., it seems clear that it was necessary to overwrite the distributed firmware to get the device to work. I do not have the device, thus I cannot verify this independently; however, I think the firmware in the package should be updated.
