Where did you get the SRPM you compiled from? I just had smart removed from one of my Factories, and neither zypper nor YaST work either. -(
Do you have https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=424365 by any chance?
Funny you should ask that here, as I'm not sure I see any connection. Normally I don't use zypper, because it commonly makes systems unusable by replacing working kernels/initrds with broken ones. Yesterday & the day before in data gathering for http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11564 I may have seen it or something like it on the SCSI partition, but not on the PATA partition. On both the SCSI partition & the PATA partition now I tried 'zypper rm yast2-update' and got that bug. You can fix the problem by overwriting /usr/bin/rpmdb2solv with one from an earlier satsolver-tools package, I used satsolver-tools-0.10.6-2.i586.rpm and extracted rpmdb2solv with mc. I mostly use yast and sometimes zypper for cli quickies. There is also the workaround in comment 31 that I haven't tried yet and don't quite understand what to do. Regards Dave P
