I use suse 7.2 as CUPS based printer servers. My version of CUPS does not recognise my new colour printer (Epson C62). I do not want to compile and install a newer version of CUPS (not enough resources on box - major hassle). Is there any easy way to make CUPS recognise my printer? So far I have ocnfigured CUPS using YAST2. I have tried editing the cupsd.conf file in /etc/cups. This seemed to work in that from windows I could 'see' the network printer and idstall the drivers from the manufacturer but when I tried to print nothing would come out of the printer. My laser running on lp0 works fine but lp1 does not print anything.
Have you read the notes on the LinuxPrinting web site? The page on the Epson Stylus C62 is: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-Stylus_C62 There is a substantial amount of information there, including instructions on how to use it with older versions of printer drivers that don't explicitly support the C62.
