Hi, I use suse 7.2 as CUPS based printer servers. My version of CUPS does not recognise my new colour printer (Epson C62). I do not want to compile and install a newer version of CUPS (not enough resources on box - major hassle). Is there any easy way to make CUPS recognise my printer? So far I have ocnfigured CUPS using YAST2. I have tried editing the cupsd.conf file in /etc/cups. This seemed to work in that from windows I could 'see' the network printer and idstall the drivers from the manufacturer but when I tried to print nothing would come out of the printer. My laser running on lp0 works fine but lp1 does not print anything. Many thanks Darren Garside Freshford Primary School

Have you read the notes on the LinuxPrinting web site? The page on the Epson Stylus C62 is: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-Stylus_C62 There is a substantial amount of information there, including instructions on how to use it with older versions of printer drivers that don't explicitly support the C62. I have newly set up Squid on a SuSE 8 box, and have changed a few sections in the squid.conf, however when I run Squid it runs with the defaults set, and not the options I have set in the squid.conf file. Have I set up the squid.conf wrongly? I have uncommented out the line I need and then modified it, eg. HTTP_PORT: 8002 Is this correct? It looks fine in all the examples I’ve found on the web, but I’m still tearing my hair out… Many thanks, Robb Bloomfield RLS Network Administrator
HI, Mak sure your squid.conf file is pointing to the correct version. We had this problem, but we did a locate squid.conf command, and found two of them. One was the one were were editing, the other was the original. Make sure you are pointing to the correct one. Try running 'squid -f <path-to-config>'. You could also try using the -d switch to give yourself some debugging info. Type squid --help for the full list of options, All the best, Nial. At 09:42 08/10/2002 +0100, you wrote:
