I wish that if anyone is "lurking" that they could let us know at least once that their are others!
===================================================== I'm an administrator in a LI school district. I've been using Linux in my work exclusively for just about 3 years now; but other than a tiny hadnful of students, I've been alone. No problems though as my work in StarOffice has *always* been compatible (since v 5.0). My office machine (provided by the district) has been "Linux" for years, as are the two laptops I run around with doing teacher observations and such. Next year we will be converting one of our 6 year old labs (P166 w 32mb) to linux /thin clients/ running LTSP w/ dual 1.4ghz processors and about 3-4 gig of RAM. Should save the district a bundle in replacement cost. We've already started experimenting (thanks to a very recent graduate's efforts; we pay him to come once a week and help w/ setup) and have been very impressed with the results. Even the IT guy is somewhat excited about the project, and he's, thus far, been an NT man all the way. Our goal is to make the transition seemless as possible for users. If we are succcessful, we might extend the experiment putting all office and administrative machines eventually in a similar configuration.
