I would strongly recommend reading the docs for named and squid through - these tools will not work without configuration, named especially!
/usr/doc/packages is the place to start. Named is NOT easy to configure, and will NOT work out of the box on a network.
Point taken, however I can't find anything in /usr/doc/packages, unless I'm missing something. So read the man page but it doesn't seem to explain what the entries in /etc/named.conf, mine looks like options { directory "/var/named"; }; zone "." { type hint; file "root.hint"; }; zone "0.0.127.in-addr.arpa" { type master; file "127.0.0.zone"; }; Suggestions or pointers? -- Glenn Cameron - King Henry VIII School __!__ Warwick Road, Coventry CV3 6AQ -----o----- Tel 024 7667 3442 (262) Fax 024 7667 7456 " " Mobile: 0771 383 9447 Web: http://www.khviii.com/
