Win95 T ----------thinnet coax. -------- T Linux NE2000 (10BaseT) 3COM3C509 NIC
10BaseT is configured? IRQ 10 is only fe dis card?
The cable, terminators etc have been tested and work fine. The NE2000 card is working, I've seen it working connected in the same box, connected to another Win machine.
But I'm unsure whether the 3C509 card is a) a 3C509 card (obviously, an older version) b) a 3C509b card
I have de same, me think thats a)
3c509B users should use either the supplied DOS utility to disable the plug and play support, and to set the output media to what they require. The linux driver currently does not support the Autodetect media setting, so you have to select 10Base-T or 10Base-2 or AUI. Note that to turn off PnP entirely, you should do a 3C5X9CFG /PNP:DISABLE and then follow that with a hard reset to ensure that it takes effect.
It is not an pnp-card. Ya select 10Base-T or 10Base-2? That what ya haffe use. Do this widh de dos-configtool. On this way I have configured dis ya card.
Should I be "turning off PNP entirely" ?
Why not? It is a isa-no pgp-card.
I have the 3Com utility called 3C5X9CFG.exe. I tried running it from the command line as "3C5X9CFG /PNP:DISABLE" but it failed.
Check it out with dis ya tool fe dos 3C5X9CFG.exe and make your settings.
It gave an error message listing accepted commands, none of which included the "/PNP:DISABLE" option/parameter.
Try dis in ya /etc/conf.modules: alias eth0 3c509 Ah,....it will be ;) Gruß, Clemens -- sig_29 Mit statserial/setserial serielle Infos abfragen: $ statserial /dev/ttyS0 (Ausgabe u.a.
