Having problems with a 3COM 3C509 NIC. (This is an old card but it's more than sufficient for my needs at the moment).
I'm trying to create a simple network, viz.
Win95 T ----------thinnet coax. -------- T Linux NE2000 (10BaseT) 3COM3C509 NIC
Should I be "turning off PNP entirely" ?
I have the 3Com utility called 3C5X9CFG.exe. I tried running it from the command line as "3C5X9CFG /PNP:DISABLE" but it failed. It gave an error message listing accepted commands, none of which included the "/PNP:DISABLE" option/parameter.
Try "pnpdump > /etc/isapnp.conf". If your ethernet card is pnp, it will be listed there. If not, just try loading the 3c5x9 module, and ping to the other computer in your network. If this doesn't function, you will have to enable the BNC-Port by using the 3com utility.
