http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1140599 Bug ID: 1140599 Summary: wicked fails to startup wifi interface Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: gerben.jansen@aol.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 809608 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=809608&action=edit output of journlctl -b Initially i was running Leap 15.0 and had my wifi interface configured with wicked. I need that, because i need a fix ip address for this machine. Then i upgraded to Leap 15.1 and from then on, i failed to get a working wifi interface. I saved my /home file system somewhere else and next did an initial install of Leap 15.1: same result, wifi refused to function. Finally i thought something had broken in my laptop, so i ordered an USB wifi interface only to disover it had the same issues. As a last try i configured the interface for NetworkManager and was amazed to se it work without issues. Switching back to wicked i saw messages saying: Jul 07 23:02:12 manta wickedd-nanny[1471]: device wlan1: call to org.opensuse.Network.Wireless.changeDevice() failed: General failure Jul 07 23:02:12 manta wickedd-nanny[1471]: wlan1: failed to bring up device, still continuing Jul 07 23:02:13 manta ModemManager[1161]: <info> Couldn't check support for device at '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:19.0': not supported by any plugin Jul 07 23:02:13 manta ModemManager[1161]: <info> Couldn't check support for device at '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0': not supported by any plugin Jul 07 23:02:17 manta wicked[1472]: lo up Jul 07 23:02:17 manta wicked[1472]: wlan1 device-not-running device /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0 is the Wifi interface. manta:~ # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller (rev 09) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor PCI Express Root Port (rev 09) 00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family USB xHCI Host Controller (rev 04) 00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family MEI Controller #1 (rev 04) 00:16.3 Serial controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family KT Controller (rev 04) 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (Lewisville) (rev 04) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 (rev 04) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev c4) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 2 (rev c4) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 3 (rev c4) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 (rev 04) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation QM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller (rev 04) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 7 Series Chipset Family 6-port SATA Controller [AHCI mode] (rev 04) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SMBus Controller (rev 04) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] (rev a1) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) 02:00.0 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd MMC/SD Host Controller (rev 08) 02:00.3 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 PCIe IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 04) 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 [Taylor Peak] (rev 34) (i'll attach the full journal) This looked very much like bug 917106 and 915025 (13.2 bugs), except that in my /etc/wicked/common.xml there is a line saying "<use-nanny>true</use-nanny>" which was the solution there. So this must be something new ... This is on a Lenovo T530. The FN+F5 and side switch enable the wifi (led is on) I haven't found a way around NetworkManagaer yet -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
