you are right, it print merge EFI to GRUB2, so it is really that original
system is non-EFI and then new one is EFI booted. This cause some troubles. I
know that in other direction it does not work at all as we cannot modify EFI
boot menu. In this case it can theoretically works, but I think we does not
support it as it can cause some internal problems ( as EFI booted system has
slightly different some kernel structures and also expose EFI interface to
modify boot ). So recommended way is to use same boot method for media and
system.
