I tried to backport it, but totally untested.
Because of this warning I just took the patch from file drm-i915-Use-pagecache-write-to-prepopulate-shmemfs- and compiled just the i915 module for the 4.4.62-18.6-default kernel. With this patch I can still trigger the oops.
Hmm, too bad.

Is this kernel safe for a normal desktop system? It contains a lot of pretty new patches.
Yes, it's safe, it's just a build from the latest git with the patch. The patch was merged to openSUSE-42.2 git branch, thus KOTD already contains it. So at best, try the latest kernel in OBS Kernel:openSUSE-42.2 repo, http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/openSUSE-42.2/standard/ If you can still reproduce the problem with it, please give the Oops messages again, at best, attach the output dmesg. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
