The system is using the modesetting DDX, so it's not the Intel DDX at fault.

The error message is found in the Mesa sources:
src/mesa/drivers/dri/i9{1,6}5/intel_batchbuffer.c

Unfortunately it's not clear which preceding call failed.


If you could post your dmesg output, that may help. If that's already spammed
away, or the i915 driver didn't print anything useful in the first place, try
rebooting with
drm.debug=0x1e log_buf_len=1M
and wait for the crash to happen again, then post dmesg.

If only we had a clear way to reproduce this...


Please also post your 'sudo lspci -nn' so we know what hardware we're looking
at.
