Right, the flickering issue really depends on the hardware. Even the behavior is different per model even with the same chip. For SKL, 4.6 is a better choice that finally addresses many pending issues. PSR has been already enabled for SKL from earlier kernels, but it's been disabled for other old chips until 4.6. Now it's re-enabled with a hope that the recent development covers all corner cases. Alas, it doesn't, hence this has to be tracked by upstream.
