Installing the wl driver got it working, so here's the work around for this
bug:
1. Disable wifi from the bios.
2. Install openSUSE 13.1
3. Blacklist Broadcom drivers:
sudo echo "blacklist ssb" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
sudo echo "blacklist bcma" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
sudo echo "blacklist b43" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
sudo echo "blacklist brcmsmac" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
4. Enable wifi in the bios.
5. Add the packman repo:
sudo zypper ar -f http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_13.1/ packman
sudo zypper ref
6. Install the broadcom-wl driver:
sudo zypper in broadcom-wl broadcom-wl-kmp-desktop
