--- Comment #118 from Johannes Meixner 2012-05-25 11:45:51 UTC ---
I am sorry, I forgot to reply to comment #117:
Yes, mine and Rudi's ideas what the default should be are in conflict.
But for me this is not important.
Because we have the separated package parallel-printer-support,
whoever decides about the defaults in openSUSE or in SLE
can get it implemented only via this one single package.
If openSUSE decision makers like to have parallel printer support
in any case (even if CUPS is not installed),
they could get it via parallel-printer-support.spec
without the need to change any other package.
If SLE decision makers like to have parallel printer support
only if explicitly requested (even if CUPS is installed),
they could get it via parallel-printer-support.spec
without the need to change any other package.
If the way how parallel printer support is enabled changes again,
one could adapt only the parallel-printer-support package
without the need to change any other package.
From my point of view the issue is perfectly solved now.
Jeff Mahoney,
thank you very much for your enlightening background explanations
and for your contribution to get it done really correctly
in the parallel-printer-support package!
