I can confirm that openSUSE 12.1 can boot correctly with systemd, the default
OS component in charge with booting the operating system. In addition to that
having the package "systemd-sysvinit" installed can help since is a drop-in
replacement for sysvinit.
For me openSUSE 12.1 boots fine even using sysvinit as a bootloader option.
