Yes, indeed. 3 weeks on vacation and I forgot simply everything. :-(

Can't you adjust brightness level with xbacklight program?

I'm not now on the machine, it is a desktop with monitor connected via d-sub.
I guess it won't work. In addition, the screen is black only in OA, not in
gnome.

It usually means, that the driver doesn't support that (a regression) or is
buggy from what I googled. The HW apparently supports that or was emulated in
non-KMS mode (I have no idea),

Then this might be not KMS, but Mesa related. But that's just wild guessing. We
also updated Mesa/libdrm for 11.3.
