Jon, I think your most recent crop of problems is because the cord wasn't
plugged into the camera properly. I've seen the same errors when the cord was
plugged in enough to get power, but not data.
I have an older, smaller version of the same camera (same id's 2770:915d). It
works for me on OpenSuSE 11.1. On my Gentoo box, I've found that this camera
works for kernel 2.6.29 but is broken with 2.6.31 (and 2.6.30). (By broken I
mean same unmountable behavior as above.) While I have found that both 2.6.29
and 2.6.31 have an active unusual_dev entry (in
drivers/usb/storage/unusual_devs.h) for this device, I found that deleting this
entry from 2.6.31 allows the device to work again.
Hope this helps.
