1. Why did the solver suggest to downgrade three components here? Is the release "SaX2 8.1-584.585.3" also available for my processor architecture "x86_64"?
You can use 'zypper se -s sax2' to see all installed and available sax2 versions. '8.1-584.585.3.x86_64' is among them. Looks like you've got some old 11.1 stuff hanging around on your system. You probably know this, as you are using several 11.1 based repos, even with high priority: priority 23 - Haupt-Repository http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.1/ The solver was simply asked to 'install sax', so the version that fits best to your system was chosen. A version downgrade is considered to be less painfull than the need to delete packages. If you prefer this specific version, try 'zypper in sax2-8.1-584.585.3'. It will then suggest to remove the old kdebase3-SuSE which requires libhd.so.15.
