http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=541365 Summary: Sytem fatally hangs on resume after suspend to ram (hibernation also works ugly) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alex-kas@altaray.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009090900 SUSE/3.0.14-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.14 Setup: Acer aspire 2920 laptop. openSuSE 11.1 fully updated. Also updates to suspend, acpid, etc are installed from othe repositories. After suspend made by any means (pm-suspend, s2ram, close lid, press suspend button, choose 'suspend' from the shutdown menu) system seems to sleep normally. Laptop blinks with a red led. On resume it kind of starting, dvd-rom produces initial sound, hdd led blinks once and then silence, then one more sound from hdd and then ???. Only the power button has a highlighting. Nothing seems to work. Black display, no reaction for caps-lock (led does not react), I could not connect or ping the system from another computer. Exit only via hard reset (power button for 2 seconds pressed). No tricks related to the graphics card helped. Similar behavior was with Ubuntu 9.04 and Fedora 11. Well, I did not try suspend from the console yet Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Suspend (from X) by any means 2. Wake up the laptop 3. Actual Results: Full crash with power button highlighted. Yes, if there is an external hdd it DOES NOT rotate. It only has a led on. Before this happened with this external hdd ONLY on old pcs where there was NOT ENOUGH POWER (this hdd gets power via usb). Presence of external hdd does not affect the main bug. Battery or ac power: DOES NOT MATTER Expected Results: Normal resume I presume that some kind of power failure occurs. Or just improper power distribution. Windows XP on the same machine in another partition works perfectly with this aspect. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
