Created an attachment (id=315829)

alsa-info.sh for 1.0.20-git20090828 on dell m4400 (2nd try)

Neither:

# rpm -qa | grep alsa-driver
alsa-driver-doc-1.0.20.20090828-4.1
alsa-driver-kmp-default-1.0.20.20090828_2.6.27.29_0.1-3.1

According to alsa-mixer "Digital Mic" is selected. I tried all the alternative
settings "Mic" and "FrontMic", but the command "arecord -d 10 testrecord.wav;
aplay testrecord.wav" does not replay anything useful:
- "DigitalMic": just silence
- "Mic" : a sound like a continuous dial tone on a phone
- "FrontMic" : just noise
with Digital, Mux, Mux1 set to 100 and just silence or faint noise with lower
values for these.

Is there another way to select the mic apart from Alsamixer?

I attach a screenshot from alsamixer as well, which shortly taken after running
the newly attached alsa-info.sh output.
