Stefan, I am not suggesting VIDEO Specific drivers change to be accommodated here.
Ok. Understood.
I would just like to have a PC running on Motherboard GPU and the user later installing a PCIe. Why cannot we recognise a change in hardware video and support a default Video that we package to address the new PCIe as in the above.
We're already trying to do our best here by letting the Xserver chose the appropriate driver. We don't have a mechanism to automatically install proprietary drivers from the ATI/NVIDIA channel (*) or inform the user about this possibility (**). BTW, it's not that unusual to search for an approprate driver and install it after changing the graphics card on other operating systems either. It's rather easy on openSUSE. Add the NVIDIA/ATI repository (official Community repository) and perform Software installation. The right packages will be autoselected and installed. (*) wouldn't be appreciated by our OpenSource enthusiasts (**) a bunch of our OpenSource enthusiasts would complain as well -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
