http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=510759 Summary: Xserver doesn't quit when switching to runlevel 3 with init 3 command Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pilotgi@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4) Gecko/20090426 SUSE/3.5b4-2.1 Firefox/3.5b4 With a running X session, I use the keyboard command ctrl > alt > F1 to switch to text mode. I log in as root and use the init 3 command. Output says runlevel 3 has been reached. If I use the startx command it says an x server is already running. If I use init 5, it switches to init 5 but the gui doesn't come up. If I use the int 3 command and try to build the nvidia module, the installer tells me that x is running. The only way I've found to shut down X is to reboot and enter 3 at the grub screen. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: X should shut down with the init 3 command. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
